FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

How does it work?

Stock details are shared with our buying team and offers on common ingredients can be made quickly within a week. For large quantities or more niche ingredients we may have to leverage our large network through targeting key contacts to secure a sale. Our monthly mailing list reaches over 1000 potential buyers. We target 20% commission, but this can be negotiated based on volume and incoterms (who takes ownership over delivery etc).

What return can you secure?

The best return we secured was 60% wholesale price. However, a collection for free can still be a good deal for you and the planet. Our first target is preventing waste and associated disposal costs. We see typical disposal cost of anything from £120-250 per tonne. Stock value is proportional to shelf life, the perceived extra risk, and transport costs.

What information do I need to give you?

The product description, quantity and shelf life are the most important pieces of information to roughly gauge value.  Please follow this link for more details.

How do you manage quality?

We only work with accredited suppliers. 95% of business come form UK BRCGS or SALSA approved factories. We validate the stock condition through pictures and in person audits for larger volumes. Specification and COAs where applicable can be provided. 90% of our sales are repeat buyers so consistent quality and trust has been demonstrated.

What happens to the ingredients Enviroverstock buy?

Food business to food business

We have a growing base of key buying clients from food factories and wholesalers that are willing to take materials with a short shelf life. This avenue retains the most amount of value to the selling client. We post all our new stock offers on LinkedIn. So, make sure you’re following us to keep up-to-date on our latest deals!

Food business to non-food business

Some food materials are used in non-food manufacturing processes e.g. gums in the paper industry. We have a growing network of buyers in this category that don’t need to worry about organoleptic shelf life (how it tastes over time)

Food business to animal feed (generic)

A lot of ingredients can be collected for generic animal feed, providing there is no risk of unwanted contamination of animal proteins. The volume needs to cover transportation, but in most cases this is the cheapest form of disposal and wouldn’t be classed as waste.

Food business to animal feed (specific)

Many ingredients that are used to make human food are also used in petfood and higher-grade animal feed. Bulk oils, flours and milk powders often work well via this route.
